What is an Appraisal?
An appraisal is a document that identifies your jewelry and gives you a replacement value for a particular piece of jewelry.
Why have an appraisal?
If you plan to insure your jewelry your insurance company will ask for an appraisal. Just as you insure your house, belongings, or your life you should insure your valuable jewelry. How would you replace it if it were stolen or lost?
Wink’s Fine Jewelry provides an appraisal, upon request at no charge to our customers on any new purchase over $300. If your jewelry was not purchased at Wink’s, our in-store Registered Jewelers can provide an appraisal for you. Our appraisal fees are based on the complexity of the piece(s) of jewelry.
Just like buying a car, house, or boat, purchasing an engagement set or fine jewelry is a big investment that you should insure.
With an appraisal, your jewelry can be added to your homeowners or renters insurance which provides limited coverage, or is insured through Jewelers Mutual Insurance. Jewelers Mutual Insurance protects against loss, theft, damage, and mysterious disappearance with no deductible and lets Wink’s replace or repair your ring.
